Interlace/Interlake
Interlace/Interlake was a site specific installation and community process created with Teple-Misto in Ivano-Frankivsk, Ukraine. As part of the “Manufuturing” city scanning session, Skip Cullen and Cal Cullen created a platform for residents to envision and talk about the future of their town through braiding barley straw. The braids were then put together and released into the lake reading aloud a poem comprised of the community’s wishes. Over time, the barley decomposes and becomes an algaecide helping to clean the lake, an important priority for local residents.
